Isaiah D. Cooper began his law career in 1991, as a tax associate at Gordon, Altman, Butowsky, Weitzen, Shalov & Wein (now defunct, former counsel to Carl Icahn et al.). In 1994, he left NYC to become an associate with the boutique tax, trust & estates and business planning firm of Bergman, Horowitz & Reynolds, P.C. in New Haven, CT (now Withers Bergman LLP). He joined Pepe & Hazard LLP in Hartford in 1996 (now McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter, LLP) to obtain broad experience with private placements and corporate transactions. Before founding Cooper Law LLC, Mr. Cooper was Of Counsel to Gregory & Adams P.C. in Wilton, Connecticut from late 2001 to the end of 2003. Prior to his legal career, Isaiah was a professional trombonist and served as principal trombonist with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra (Israel), Friedens Orchester (Peace Orchestra, Germany), the Santa Monica Symphony and several other orchestras in Los Angeles and Memphis. He has done recording work in Los Angeles, California (Universal Studios), Memphis, Tennessee, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, Israel. Isaiah has also performed with marching bands, salsa bands, soul bands, klezmer bands, jazz ensembles, big bands, chamber music, and theatrical avant garde ensembles. Isaiah applies the general principles which made him successful as a musician to his law practice.He prepares, studies and learns about current trends in business transactions. He selects (or finds) the right agreements or structure for each transaction, and his flexibility and understanding of when to use silence and when to speak helps him to negotiate effectively and to solve or turn around difficult situations.
