DANI L. BATTIEST is a senior attorney with Goode, Hemme & Barger in San Diego where she practices primarily in estate planning and trust administration and business law. Ms. Battiest started her career as a legal assistant in 2010, found her passion when she became an attorney, and never looked back. She has successfully represented small business owners in entity formation, corporate compliance, employee issues, business succession planning, and contract drafting and negotiation. Ms. Battiest is also experienced in the creation of wills and trusts, probate administration, and trust administration. She holds degrees from the University of California, San Diego and the Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Ms. Battiest is a member of the State Bar of California, Southern District Court of California, the North County Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association, Wealth Counsel, and Resource and Referral Co-op (where she serves as the group’s co-president and founder).
VINCENT M. CASIANO is the founder of The Casiano Law Firm and the San Diego Elder Law and Estate Planning Firm, where his main areas of practice focus on preserving wealth for families of limited to modest means up to those with taxable estates. Mr. Casiano splits his practice between transactional work in the areas of estate planning and elder law which includes traditional yet comprehensive estate planning, Medi-Cal planning, special needs trust planning, probate and trust administration with a litigation practice dedicated to trust and estate disputes, contested conservatorships, and financial elder abuse. He is a frequent lecturer to professional and laypersons in the practice areas he focuses upon. Mr. Casiano is a founding member of the WealthCounsel’s Advisor Forum, a charter member of the Academy of Special Needs Trust Planners, and a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He has also served as a past chair of the San Diego County Bar Association’s Elder Law Section, and was a fellow of the ABA’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Section. Mr. Casiano earned his B.S. degree from the State University of New York Maritime College at Fort Schuyler and his J.D. degree from the University of California Hastings College of the Law.
NATALIE ORTIZ is an associate attorney with the law firm of Goodwin Brown Gross & Lovelace LLP. Ms. Ortiz started her legal career in estate planning and trust administration, then went on to gain valuable experience in civil litigation. She currently practices in probate and trust litigation. Ms. Ortiz serves as a court appointed attorney for probate matters. She earned her B.A. degree in Political Science at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and her J.D. degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Ms. Ortiz is a member of the California Lawyers Association (member, Trusts and Estates Section), State Bar of California, San Diego County Bar Association (member, Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Section), and the Probate Attorneys of San Diego.
