PEGGY MALAK is a discovery paralegal with Bowman and Brooke LLP. Ms. Malak assists in representation of auto manufacturer clients as national discovery counsel for personal injury cases and class actions. She has more than 30 years of experience working in-house with general counsel and has worked for a number of national law firms throughout the United States in the capacity as a litigation paralegal. Ms. Malak received her bachelor's degree in legal administration/paralegal studies from the University of Detroit-Mercy and attended Abilene Christian University for conflict resolution. Ms. Malak is also a qualified mediator for the state of Michigan and conducts volunteer mediations for various legal matters and personal conflict situations.

SHANNON L.H. PHILLIPS is senior counsel with the law firm of Bowman and Brooke LLP. Ms. Phillips is a seasoned litigator who counsels clients in complex commercial, insurance coverage, product liability, business tort, construction defect and personal injury litigation, including class actions and multi-district litigation. She has extensive experience in all phases of such cases, including advising on pre-litigation risk and assessment, development and execution of case strategy, implementing written and e-discovery practices and procedures, depositions, expert witness management, complex motion practice including dispositive and discovery motions, settlement negotiations and appellate briefing. With respect to her discovery practice, Ms. Phillips has a wide range of experience in document identification, collection and production, drafting and implementing litigation holds, clawback agreements and protective orders, analyzing and preparing written discovery, selecting e-discovery vendors and platforms, managing joint defense groups and shared document databases, and preparing and arguing discovery motions. She earned her B.A. degree, with distinction, from the University of Michigan and her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School. Ms. Phillips is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, Defense Research Institute and the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan.
